Experience & Credentials
I have been practicing clinical psychotherapy with individuals and couples since 2008 and I have worked within the fields of counseling, social justice, and community development since 2001. My interest in these areas prompted me to pursue education and training in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada, as well as here in Los Angeles.
My career in the counseling field began in 2001, where I worked with street-entrenched youth in Vancouver, BC, Canada, for six years. My desire to more deeply understand the complex systemic issues impacting the individuals and communities I was working with inspired my return to academic study and professional training.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from University of Victoria, which focused on stigma, power/oppression, and the politics of recognition. I also have a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology for Community and Educational Settings from University of Toronto and a Master’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from California Southern University.
While in Toronto, I completed a clinical counseling internship at York University’s Counseling and Disabilities Center and I also provided psychotherapy services within a private practice setting for over five years. During my years in private practice, I gained particular expertise for working with clients who identify as part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/gender non-conforming, and queer (LGBTQ+) communities.
My academic and professional development as a therapist has been a long and inspired journey and I continue to attend and participate in trainings, workshops, and conferences to enhance my knowledge and skills. In order to continually grow, in terms of insight, perspective, and self-awareness, I have also participated regularly in individual and peer supervision throughout my career. My most recent immersion in clinical training and skill-building has been my role for the past two years as co-founder of the Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Alliance (NAAA), which closed in June, 2021. NAAA hosted weekly presentations, interactive discussions, and “difficult conversations” with diverse experts in the fields of narcissistic abuse, domestic violence, and family law.
I am currently engaged with several grassroots initiatives providing resources, education, consultation, and advocacy for survivors, therapists, coaches, and attorneys.
